reComputer R1100 Assembly Guide

reComputer R1100 supports multiple IoT wireless communication including 4G, LoRa®, Wi-Fi/BLE, and Zigbee. It allows expansion of SSD cards via M.2 socket for increased storage or NPU accelerator for AI capabilities. This Wiki will show you how to Assemble and Disassemble the unit to install peripherals components, as well as the option for mounting

Hardware Prerequisites

You need to prepare the following hardware

  • reComputer R1000 x 1
  • Accessories
  • Screw Driver set
    • Phillips + 3.5 bit
    • Phillips + 3.0 bit
    • Slotted - 2.5 bit

Device Disassembly Guide

Follow these steps to safely disassemble the device without any issues:

Step 1: Remove the Four Screws at the Bottom

  • Locate and unscrew the four screws at the bottom of the device using an appropriate screwdriver.

Step 2: Take Off the Floor Panel

  • Once the screws are removed, carefully lift off the floor panel from the device.

Step 3: Remove the Plastic Side Panels

  • Identify the plastic side panels on three sides of the device.
  • Gently pry or unsnap each panel. If they are tightly fitted, you may need a tool, but be careful not to damage them.

Step 4: Be Mindful of the Boot Switch Plastic Plate

  • Take note of the boot switch on one of the panels—it may have a small plastic plate attached.
  • Ensure this plate doesn’t fall off or get lost during disassembly.

Step 5: Remove the Aluminum Outer Casing

  • With the side panels removed, you can now access the aluminum outer casing.
  • Carefully lift and remove the aluminum casing.

Step 6: Remove the Screws Securing the PCB

  • Finally, unscrew the four screws that hold the PCB (Printed Circuit Board) in place.

Installing a Nano SIM Card

Step 1: Remove the Back Cover

  • Follow the disassembly guide to carefully remove the back cover.

Step 2: Insert the Nano SIM Card

  • Place the Nano SIM card into the designated SIM slot.

Ensure the SIM card is properly aligned before securing the cover back in place.

Installing an SSD

Step 1: Remove the Back Cover

  • Follow the disassembly guide to carefully take off the back cover.

Step 2: Insert the SSD

  • Securely insert the SSD into the M.2 socket.
  • Fasten the screws to lock it in place.

Ensure the SSD is properly seated before reassembling the device.

Installing the Wi-Fi/BLE Antenna

Step 1: Disassemble the Device

  • Follow Section 4.1 - Disassembly Guide to carefully take apart the device.

Step 2: Connect the Antenna

  • Attach the feeder line from the CM4 module to the antenna hole, referring to the provided illustrations for proper alignment.

Step 3: Reassemble the Device

  • Once the antenna is securely connected, reassemble the device for normal operation.

Assembling the 4G/LoRa®/Zigbee Module and Antenna

Step 1: Check Module Placement

  • Ensure the Mini-PCIe slot module is positioned above the SSD card.

Step 2: Install the Module

  • Insert the 4G, LoRa®, or Zigbee module into the appropriate Mini-PCIe slot, following the matching guidelines from Section 2.2.8.
  • Secure the module in place by tightening the screws.

Step 3: Connect the Antenna

  • Attach the feeder line to the module, referring to the provided illustrations for correct positioning.

Assembling the TPM 2.0 Module

Step 1: Remove the Back Cover

  • Follow the disassembly guide to detach the back cover.

Step 2: Install the TPM 2.0 Module

  • Insert the TPM 2.0 module into the J13 socket securely.

Assembling the UPS and PoE Module

Step 1: Disassemble the Device

  • Before installation, disassemble the entire device by following the disassembly guide.

Step 2: Install the UPS Module

  • Use two PM2.0xL5.0 screws and M2.0x5.0 standoffs to secure the UPS module onto the designated holes without metal contact pads.
  • Ensure the UPS module is properly aligned and firmly secured with the provided screws and standoffs.

Step 3: Install the PoE Module

  • Align the PoE module with the designated slot on the board.
  • Carefully solder the PoE module onto the board, ensuring precision to prevent damage to nearby components.

Mounting Guide

DIN-Rail Mounting Guide

The reComputer R1100 supports multiple installation methods, including DIN-rail mounting. The DIN-rail clip and installation screws are included in the packaging. Follow the diagram to attach the DIN-rail clip to the mounting holes on the side of the device. Once secured, you can install the device onto the mounting rail.

Installation Steps

  • Position the Device:

    • Place the device and rail clip on the upper edge of the standard DIN rail as shown in the diagram.
    • Push the device downward to align it properly.
  • Secure the Rail Clip:

    • Swing the rail clip from below through the DIN rail profile.
  • Lock into Place:

    • Push the device toward the rail until you hear a click, indicating it is securely mounted.

Removal Steps

  • Release the Lock:

    • Push the device down until it is released by the rail clip.
  • Detach from the Rail:

    • Swing the device out of the DIN rail.
  • Lift and Remove:

    • Lift the device upward to fully remove it from the mounting rail.

Wall Mounting Guide

The reComputer R1100 supports vertical wall mounting, but mounting brackets are not included in the package and must be purchased separately.

Installation Steps

  • Attach the Brackets:

    • Place the mounting brackets on the rear of the device.
  • Secure the Brackets:

    • Fasten the brackets using the supplied screws.
  • Mount to the Wall:

    • Mark the boreholes on the wall.
    • Drill the required holes.
    • Secure the device to the wall using two screws.
